The Virginia-Highland Tea Experience

Virginia-Highland is the Atlanta neighborhood that books its tea. The Dirty Tea, on St Charles Avenue a block off North Highland, is the anchor — a modern, Black-owned afternoon-tea program run by Rita and Brittany Campos that's become the go-to room for bridal showers, galentine bookings, and mother-daughter weekends across the intown east side. The full $95 service runs three tiers with house-blended teas bearing playful names ("Black Crème Brûlée," "Tiramisu Tort"), served in a champagne-lounge room with natural light, a mint-and-ivory palette, and tables spaced for conversation. The $45 Mini Afternoon Tea is the weekday version. Book via Tock two to four weeks ahead for weekend seatings, longer for Mother's Day and Valentine's Day.

Virginia-Highland's broader draw — the walkable intersection of North Highland and Virginia Avenue, with independent retail, bars, and some of the best-preserved early-twentieth-century bungalow blocks in Atlanta — makes The Dirty Tea a natural anchor for a longer afternoon. Book tea for 1pm, walk the neighborhood afterward, end at one of the North Highland restaurants. It's the only intown neighborhood where the afternoon-tea-plus-stroll itinerary is built in.

Nearby Poncey-Highland occasionally runs small monthly tea events — worth watching — but the Village proper remains the destination.

Getting Here

Virginia-Highland is 10 minutes from downtown via Ponce de Leon Avenue or North Highland. Street parking is the norm and generally available outside peak weekend dinner hours; permit zones apply on some of the residential side streets, so read the signs before parking after 6pm.

MARTA's Inman Park/Reynoldstown station is the closest rail option, with a short rideshare up North Highland to the Village. Midtown station is usable with a connecting bus or rideshare. The neighborhood is walkable from the Eastside BeltLine — approach via Virginia Avenue from the Freedom Park/Irwin Street corridor.

When to Book

Weekday Mini Afternoon Teas book within the week. Weekend Full Afternoon Teas fill two to three weeks out. Mother's Day and Valentine's Day bookings fill four to six weeks ahead — the room is one of the most requested afternoon-tea venues in the city for both holidays.
